The Salvation Army needed a strategy for picking up donations.

They didn’t know exactly where to focus on picking up donated goods. So we created a heat map interface to dynamically show stats for every single zip code in the U.S.

how we

For call center operators, we created software that prompts them to ask specific questions to donors in order to capture information quickly and create tickets.

We utilized various mapping APIs to draw boundaries around every zip code in the country, and then gathered census bureau statistics for each (such as median income and population density). We also applied internal statistics (such as the number of completed pickups, number of canceled pickups, and the size of the pickups) to draw a heat map, which enabled stakeholders to quickly understand which areas yielded the biggest bang for their buck, and make adjustments to their areas of focus.
